Questions About Acting Classes, Coaching & Training
Have questions about acting classes at East Valley Acting Studio? You're in the right place.
EVAS offers live virtual acting classes, commercial audition and self-tape training, film and TV acting foundations, ongoing actor training, kids acting classes, and private coaching for actors across the United States.
Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.
What acting classes does East Valley Acting Studio offer?
EVAS offers several training options so actors can choose a class based on their experience and goals.
Commercial Acting, Audition & Self-Tape Foundations
A 4-week virtual intensive focused on commercial auditions, self-tapes, casting expectations, slates, headshots, commercial technique, and career development.
This class is great for actors getting started, returning after time away, or wanting to strengthen their commercial audition and self-tape skills.
Film & TV Acting Foundations
A 4-week virtual acting intensive focused on the craft of acting for film and television. Actors work on script analysis, scene work, relationships, objectives, character development, listening, reacting, and creating believable performances on camera.
EVAS Actor Lab
The Actor Lab is ongoing virtual training for actors who already have a foundation in acting and want to keep growing.
Classes may include scene work, audition material, cold reads, self-tapes, commercial work, character development, redirects, career guidance, and other exercises designed to keep actors working and challenging themselves.
Previous acting training or instructor approval is required.
Kids Acting Classes
Virtual acting classes for young performers provide a supportive place to build acting skills, creativity, confidence, and on-camera experience.
Training may include scenes, characters, audition skills, commercials, cold reads, and other age-appropriate acting exercises.
Private Acting Coaching
Private coaching provides one-on-one training based on the individual actor's goals.
Sessions can be used for audition preparation, self-tape coaching, scene or monologue work, acting technique, career guidance, or help figuring out your next steps in the industry.
Do I need acting experience to take a class?
Not necessarily.
Our Foundations programs are designed to work for actors who are newer to the industry as well as actors returning after time away or wanting to strengthen specific skills.
The EVAS Actor Lab is designed for actors with previous training or experience. Instructor approval may be required before joining.
Do I have to take Commercial Foundations before Film & TV Acting Foundations?
No. They are separate training programs.
If commercial acting and auditioning are your focus, you can take Commercial Foundations. If you're more interested in developing your film and television acting technique, you can start with Film & TV Acting Foundations.
Actors who want a well-rounded foundation may choose to take both.
What is the difference between Foundations and the Actor Lab?
Foundations are structured 4-week programs with a specific curriculum. They're designed to teach and strengthen important skills in a focused format.
The Actor Lab is ongoing training. Instead of following the same four-week curriculum, actors continually work new material, receive feedback and redirects, and challenge their skills.
Think of Foundations as learning and strengthening the tools. The Actor Lab is where you keep using them.
How much do virtual acting classes cost?
Our 4-week Foundations programs are $250 and include four live 90-minute classes.
The EVAS Actor Lab uses flexible class packs:
4 Classes: $250
8 Classes: $450
12 Classes: $600
Actor Lab class packs are valid for six months, giving actors flexibility while still encouraging consistent training.
Pricing for private coaching and specialty workshops may vary.
Are the classes live?
Yes. EVAS virtual acting classes are taught live through Google Meet.
These are not prerecorded courses. Actors interact with Leslie and other students, perform material, receive feedback, take redirects, ask questions, and work in real time.
Can virtual acting classes really help me become a better actor?
Absolutely. Virtual training allows actors to work on performance, script analysis, audition technique, self-tapes, cold reads, character development, listening, and many of the same skills practiced in an in-person class.
It also provides valuable experience working on camera. Self-tapes, virtual callbacks, meetings, and table reads are now common parts of the entertainment industry, so becoming comfortable performing virtually is a useful professional skill.
Where are your acting classes located?
East Valley Acting Studio offers live virtual acting classes for students across the United States.
Actors can participate from Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, California, New York, or anywhere else in the country as long as the scheduled class time works for them.
What time zone are classes taught in?
Class times vary depending on the program and current session.
Because EVAS works with actors across multiple time zones, class listings include the applicable time-zone information. Additional class times may be added as our nationwide virtual programs grow.
Is Commercial Foundations only for beginners?
No.
Commercial Acting, Audition & Self-Tape Foundations can be valuable for newer actors, actors returning after time away, and experienced actors who want to strengthen their commercial audition technique or become more confident with self-tapes.
What will I learn in the Commercial Acting program?
Commercial Foundations covers topics including commercial script breakdown, natural delivery, wardrobe, eyelines, product interaction, slates, self-tapes, casting expectations, headshots, casting profiles, audition etiquette, and career development.
Actors also submit commercial self-tapes and receive personalized feedback and redirects.
What will I learn in Film & TV Acting Foundations?
Film & TV Acting Foundations focuses more deeply on the craft.
Actors work on script analysis, circumstances, relationships, objectives, stakes, subtext, character development, listening and reacting, scene work, on-camera performance, and taking direction.
Can I join the Actor Lab without taking a Foundations class?
Possibly.
Actors with previous acting training or professional experience may be able to join the Actor Lab without completing an EVAS Foundations program.
If you're unsure whether you're ready for the Lab, contact us and tell us a little about your previous training and experience.
Do you help actors with auditions and self-tapes?
Yes.
Audition and self-tape training are an important part of EVAS. Actors can work on these skills through group classes or schedule private coaching when they need more individualized help with a specific audition.
Do you provide career guidance for actors?
Yes. Career development is an important part of EVAS training.
Depending on the program, we may discuss casting platforms, representation, headshots, resumes, reels, legitimate audition opportunities, industry red flags, professional etiquette, actor branding, marketing, and practical next steps for growing your career.
Do you help actors with branding and marketing?
Yes.
Leslie owns a marketing company in addition to her work in the entertainment industry, and brings that experience into actor career development.
Actors can receive guidance on presenting themselves professionally, understanding their brand, marketing themselves, and making their materials work together to support the types of opportunities they want to pursue.
Do you ever bring casting directors or other industry professionals into classes?
Yes. From time to time, EVAS classes and workshops feature guest industry professionals such as casting directors, directors, working actors, and other entertainment professionals.
Guest appearances vary and are not guaranteed as part of every class or session.
Who teaches the classes?
East Valley Acting Studio is led by Leslie Infalt, a professional actor, producer, writer, and acting coach with more than 30 years of entertainment industry experience.
Her background also includes talent representation, casting, directing, theater education, production, marketing, and branding. She has coached hundreds of actors, including students who have gone on to book lead roles in film and stage productions.
Do you offer acting classes for kids?
Yes. EVAS offers virtual acting training for young performers in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.
Kids can work on acting technique, characters, scenes, commercials, auditions, confidence, and other performance skills while receiving individual feedback and encouragement.
Do you offer private acting lessons?
Yes. Private acting coaching is available for actors who prefer individualized training or need help with a specific audition, self-tape, scene, monologue, or career question.
Private sessions can also be a good option for actors whose schedules don't work with current group class times.
What if I'm not sure which acting class to take?
That's okay. You don't need to figure it out before contacting us.
Tell us which programs you're considering and a little about your acting experience, and we'll help you determine which current class is the best fit.
